In 1989 I decided to expand my already
successful cleaning business and include carpet cleaning.
I had heard many horror stories about cleaning companies.
And I thought that doing business differently would be a
good service and a good business opportunity. This
presented a challenge. I did not have any practical
experience in carpet cleaning yet aspired to offer my
clients the best service. So I went to school.
I took each and every class available and
passed all certification tests. This challenge also proved
to be a blessing in disguise. Many cleaners learn their
trade on the job site, under time constraints and not
necessarily from accomplished technicians. While acquiring
the “Master Textile Cleaner” certification by the IICRC, I
was taught by the nation’s leading experts. I
learned from the best.
As a result I decided to focus my business
exclusively on carpet, upholstery and oriental
rug care. Years later, thanks to all our
wonderful clients, business has been very
good.
Actually, I could not handle it all by myself
anymore. I needed a person that could both maintain the
quality of the cleaning and be liked by my clients.
I
have known Jim, my business partner for many years. Before
we were partners, I referred friends to him. (Our policy
is not to clean for personal friends.) The feedback I got
about the quality of his cleaning was never short of
glowing.

who has vast experience in all areas of the industry.
He is that rare breed that started from the ground and
worked his way to the top. He learned to be the best
through many years of hard-earned experience. Starting
in
1977, he worked for a carpet manufacturer;
then as a carpet installer; next as a carpet cleaner, then as the
leading technician for a large Bay Area company; and now as a full
partner in The Steam Team. Jim has invested hundreds of hours in
classes and has successfully passed the rigorous tests required
for the “Master Textile Cleaner” certification by the IICRC.
America’s carpet manufacturers strongly recommend that only these
certified master cleaners clean their carpets. We are delighted to
have him aboard.
